Travel is a waste of time.  So is TV, grocery shopping, and coffee meetings. Time is the most precious resource, and below is how I'm maximizing mine right now. I'm in the mist of a $1.5M equity raise for https://www.investoliver.ca/welcome, and will soon be seeking $2.2M for a 49 unit apartment building.

Here is a sample of what my schedule for the last week, and coming weeks looks like:
4am - wake, work on website
7am - make lunches, give kids breakfast and make teas, help them get dressed
8:45am - drop Landed off at preschool and head to SWEET HOME CAFE so Laci can play while I work
11:15am - pickup Landen, bring kids home, lunch
noon - 5pm - work on computer and keep kids as quiet as possible with a barage of snacks and movies (bad-dad day with so much TV, oh well :/), talk to investors on the phone, respond to property management issues  relating to 2 turnovers last month and 3 more coming next month (need to farm out the management of remaining 20 units to a company soon, but income isn't quite where I need it to afford that yet, grr)
5pm - Marcy and Livy home from work / school and I cook dinner while she plays with kid
6:30pm - kids in bath while I look over and docusign sign the newest offer on an $6M building
6:45pm -7:30pm - read books, brush kids teeth, get them water,
7:30pm - research the grocery delivery service in town. basically adds 5-10% to your bill (been using the "click and collect" service for a while, waste time in Facebook, emails while Marcy finishes one of the thousands of projects she brings home from school (teachers have a constant barage of laminating to cut out, cards or little gifts to give kids for whatever holiday is in season, think Haloween, Christmas, 100s day, Valentines Day, Easter, with report cards and parent meetings in between)
8:30pm - watch Game of Thrones and rub Marcy's feet (we're trying to rewatch all seasons ahead of the new release)
9:30pm - walk old dog so she doesn't poop in the house (hips don't work well so she can't squat and doesn't go out in yard anymore, you need to walk her and it basically falls out as she walks... it's time to "sell her to heaven" but Marcy can't bear to let her go yet... ugh... I'm not so sentimental because I hate poop in the house )
10pm - bed (in basement because my sick daughter is taking up the entire half of my side of the king side bed, and my wife can't sleep in basement because it's too cold lol)
4am awake - water, bathroom, computer in HOME OFFICE IN BASEMENT
5am - organize emails on appartment building file into EVERNOTE with Pianno Guys streaming on YouTube in the backround
6am - blog (this was supposed to be daily, oops)
6:16am - run on treadmill in basement while watching 2nd half of new Resident Evil on Netflix, assign new tasks on ASANA and review the ones my VA completed, check on leasing agent, email electrician because my current handyman is not being very reliable, using Polar Watch and chest heart rate monitor to track fitness.

As you can see, I'm busy. Some / much of my day is "wasted time" such as TV, but this is also paired with a 2nd activity such as rubbing my wife's back or feet, or exercising. I'm up so early because the kids are sleeping, my wife is still in bed, and it's the only time I can get some quiet focus work in, like programing.

Final Thoughts
As you can see, I'm busy. Some / much of my day is "wasted time" such as TV, but this is also paired with a 2nd activity such as rubbing my wife's back or feet, or exercising. I'm up so early because the kids are sleeping, my wife is still in bed, and it's the only time I can get some quiet focus work in, like programing.   7 tools I use, mentioned:

  1. SOFTWARE (EVERNOTE, ASANA, GREENROPE CRM)
  2. HOME OFFICE (don't forget to get your company to pay you rent!)
  3. GADGETS (POLAR WATCH, CHEST STRAP HEARTRATE MONITOR, TREADMILL),
  4. FOCUS MUSIC (YouTube, Beats Earbuds for Piano Guys or Yiruma, or the Create Your Future Playlist)
  5. SHOPPING SERVICES (Amazon, Click and Collect, PC Express)
  6. CONTRACTORS (VA, Electrician, Sweet Home Cafe)
  7. PREPARED FOOD (canned food, Chef's Plate, bagged salads)

Now I've got to go, because kids will be up soon and I need to hit the treadmill, and I'm already late (it's 6:19pm)

Until next time, have a great day and make it count!
